Comments or Suggestions

When I find a good book to read, and I really get into it, it's hard for me to put it down. Like, I'll stay up until 4 in the morning if I have to.

The Twilight series was great, but I'm getting a little tired of seeing the plethora of vampire books and stories that are beginning to take over. Besides, you can't top Edward. Sorry.
I've read some of Out of Jerusalem and  Standing in Holy Places but unfortunately wasn't able to finish either series.
And, as much as I hate to say it, I think I like The Hunger Games series even more than the Twilight series. Two words.

Peeta. Mellark.
om nom nom

My only problem is that I'm out of books to read at the moment. These books have all been suggested to me and I need more! So I'm asking a BIG favor from anyone and everyone who reads this blog to help me out. Give me your suggestions, favorite books, books you've heard about....whatever the case may be!

My only rules are:
No Vampires. (unless it's reeeallly, really good.)
No corny romance novels.

Let's hear it!

The Count of Monte Cristo, the LONG version is really good. :) Just don't go into it thinking of the movie, because it's pretty different.
The Percy Jackson and the Olympian series. They were pretty entertaining.
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Fever 1793
The Hiding Place

I've also heard the Leven Thumps series are good and also the Fablehaven series.
Good Luck!!

I have a whole list I could give you but the ones I give you now will keep you busy for a long time. Highly recommend Children of the Promise (volumes 1 thru 5) and Hearts of the Children(sequel)(volumes 1 thru 5). I would also loan you my copies of Out of Jerusalem so you can finish this wonderful series. LOVED ALL OF THE ABOVE. I can loan you any of the above. Happy reading!!!

I absolutely LOVEEEEED The Hunger Games. I can't wait until Mocking Jay comes out next month (I've already pre-ordered it).
I am a huge reading fan. Here are some of my recent fav's:
-The Help by Kathryn Stockett (this is a really fun read. It has the southern black talk and is really cute)
-The Guernsey Literary & Potatoe Peel Society (it's a long title but it's so cute. It's a book of letters which sounds lame but truly it's a really cute story).
-These Old Shades by Gorgette Heyer (this one is an old fashioned story but a non-cheesy romance)
-A Mother's Book of Secrets (this is a mothering book but one of the most amazing ones I have ever read...it's so inspiring).

Happy reading! I love it when you find a book and can't put it down if your life depended on it. That is how I felt about all of these books.

OK Laur. You need to try the series by Chris Himerdinger called "Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites". There are about 14 or so books, but you have to start with the first one. I promise you will love those!! I read them long time ago, but they are still some of my favorite! I think the first one is called "Tennis Shoes among the Nephites" but anyone you ask about them will know. Really, these have to be the next ones that you read!

A couple years ago I read the Heather Wells series from Meg Cabot (The woman that wrote the Princess Diaries books), they had a little of the romance, a little humor and a little murder mystery. The series was about a former pop star (Heather Wells) who now works as a secretary/manager of some sort for a college dorm building when these strange out-of-the-blue murders start happening, so naturally, she tries to solve the mystery. Surprisingly they weren't too little-girlish, and they had me hooked quickly!

I have all 3 books layin' around somewhere if you want to borrow them!

Ok so I just lent my niece these books by something Armstrong. It's called The Summoning, The Awakening, and The Reckoning. I was also lent The Uglies which then goes to The Prettys The Specials. and The Extras. I loved all these books, but I do think Hunger Games is my all time favorite right now.( Yes even over Twilight)
I have also heard that The City of Ember is good and Mortal Instruments. I haven't read them yet, but they are on the list.
